Associate - Group Financial Reporting

Description: A Top Tier Investment Bank is looking for an accountant to join there finance team responsible for all aspects of Head Office reporting and control for the Asia Pacific region
Responsibilities:
*Preparation of monthly IFRS financial statements and HKMA reporting for the Bank branches and subsidiaries within the Asia Pacific region, including more detailed disclosure to Group quarterly, semi-annually and annually.
*Understanding products reported within the entity and ensuring compliance of disclosures and accounting treatments with IFRS and other Group reporting requirements.
*Understanding the implications of US GAAP on the figures reported and reporting adjustments as required.
*Preparation of US GAAP adjustments, SEC, BOE reports and any Head Office regulatory reporting.
*Calculation of risk-weighted assets (RWA) for the branches/subs (adopting UK FSA rules) and variance commentaries. This includes those entities where local regulations are observed by UKFSA in calculating RWA, the regional contact will still sit with the team.
*Review of new trades and products that are introduced/booked into these entities - identifying the basis of the trades and with the assistance of our regulatory policy team identify the correct regulatory treatment and implement it.
*Understanding and explaining to management significant movements in the entity's balance sheet, in terms of changes in the business as well as movements in the market in general.
*Working closely with the Central Statutory Review team to ensure all HO reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.
*Preparation and review of the monthly balance sheet reporting pack for the entities and manage the monthly sign off procedure for IFRS balance sheets.
*Liaison with Product Control, Front Office, Operations, IT and other areas of Financial Control (eg. Statutory Reporting) both in the region and UK to ensure that changes in the business are clearly understood by all parties and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Requirements:
*Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACA equivalent) with experience in HKMA
*Two to five years post qualification experience;
*Background in Finance / Investment banking, through either direct employment or through Big 4 Auditing / Consultancy exposure.
